How to find a lost Dutch pension

    Last checked: 1 November 2026. Sources: mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl; pensionhunter.ai/netherlands (which cites mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl and rijksoverheid.nl).

If you worked in the Netherlands, your Dutch pension is almost certainly still on record. The free official route is one website.

    Start here: Mijn Pensioenoverzicht

Mijn Pensioenoverzicht shows your expected pension, net per month, including the AOW (the Dutch state pension). It also shows how much pension you have built up so far with Dutch workplace pension funds. It is free and official.

You log in with DigiD, the Dutch government login, or with eIDAS, the European login route for people with a recognised digital identity from another EU country.

    If you live abroad

This is where most people get stuck. To get DigiD from abroad you need a Dutch citizen service number (BSN) and either a counter appointment or a video call. PensionHunter's guide to finding a Dutch pension from abroad sets out the options step by step.

    What to have ready

    • Your BSN, if you have one. It is usually on old Dutch payslips and tax letters.
    • The names of your Dutch employers and the years you worked there.
    • Any letters from Dutch pension funds, even very old ones.

If you remember the employer but not the fund

Most Dutch workplace pensions sit with a sector or company pension fund, not with the employer itself. Mijn Pensioenoverzicht shows your Dutch workplace pensions together, so you do not need to know the fund first. That is why it is the best first step.

    Watch out for

Anyone who asks for a percentage of your Dutch pension in return for finding it. The official overview is free.

Worked in more than one country?

Mijn Pensioenoverzicht only sees the Netherlands. If your career crossed borders, PensionHunter, the cross-border pension option we feature, runs a free lost pension checker that looks at the countries you worked in.

We always point people to the free government tracing route first, and we take nothing from financial advisers.
